Coming Out

For many in the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community, coming out is an emotional process.  Many have to face the possibility of negative reactions from their family and friends. Unfortunately, the possibility of being ostracized from the people who these LGBT individuals hold dear is very real. This is why creating a positive environment after a friend or member of your family comes out is important to the entire coming out process.

Lead with Love, a poignant film by executive producer, David Huebner, PhD, MPH and director Jenny Mackenzie, PhD, explores the complexities of the coming out process as told by parents and their children. In Lead with Love, parents are given guidance on creating a comforting and open environment for their child to feel accpeted and to make the coming out process as easy as possible.

Coming out is not easy. Not for the LGBT person coming out, and it is not necessarily easy for family and friends.
