I work with people in transition: issues that arise in the movement from childhood to adolescence, from home to college, from being single to being partnered, separation and divorce, loss and grieving, and ways in which we find meaning throughout our life in work and love. I will join you in exploring your conscious choices, your values, how those match up, and their nonconscious sources and impact from early experience. I specialize in helping people of all ages work through traumatic events and develop resilience skills. My work is interpersonal, Psycho-dynamically and Neuro-dynamically based. With children I frequently use play-therapy as a primary modality.
I have practiced in Boulder for over 25 years. I supervise and consult with other psychotherapists. I am an Adjunct Faculty at CU Boulder, and teach an online class on Clinical Ethics. I have led trainings in resilience, Trauma, and Secondary-trauma, as well a Developmental transitions, Critical Thinking skills, and Adoption issues.
I enjoy working with Multicultural issues, and translating between interpersonal perspectives. A working alliance is something I believe is essential for psychotherapy, and I will do my best to facilitate that. I have a therapy-dog, Lucy, a border collie, who can be present in our meetings when that feels helpful.
