Jacqueline Williams, PsyD

I have been providing comprehensive psychological services, including psychological and psycho-educational testing, to a multicultural population of children, adolescents, adults, and elderly adults in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles for over 15 years.  I provide a safe atmosphere in which to explore individual, couple, and  psychological testing needs as they arise, as well as work toward a viable resolution and personal growth.

My practice is based on the principle of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).  CBT identifies “irrational”, “dysfunctional”, and “distorted” thinking that causes people to experience depression, chronic worrying, frustration and/or anger.  CBT reminds people that they control their own emotional destiny according to whether they think in healthy, rational ways or unhealthy, irrational ways.  First, I teach the client to recognize words, thoughts, and events that trigger negative, irrational, distorted thoughts.  Secondly, I teach the client to reframe the negative, irrational, distorted thoughts by modeling techniques that dispute and challenge the faulty thinking.  I am an active and supportive listener who demonstrates genuineness, warmth, empathy, and sensitivity.

Areas of specialty include: depression, bi-polar, women’s issues (infertility, perimenopause/menopause, postpartum depression), lesbian issues, and midlife transition.

Upon request following full payment, the psychologist will provide a receipt usable as a “superbill” which can be submitted to the insurance company for reimbursement.

If you have health insurance and the health insurance requires the psychologist to complete forms, upon verification of health insurance coverage and policy limits, the psychologist will bill your insurance carrier for you and the psychologist will be paid directly by the insurance company.

If an appointment is missed or canceled with less than 24 hours notice, you will be billed the scheduled fee ($150 or $175). Frequent cancellations may result in the termination of your treatment. The client’s compliance in keeping appointments and active participation in the treatment process are vital.

The client’s therapeutic and financial relationship with the psychologist continues as long as the psychologist is providing professional services or until the client informs the psychologist, in person or in writing, that the client wishes to terminate therapy or the psychologist notifies the client that therapy is being terminated.
