Thomas Lazzaro, PhD

Research interests include human impulse control.

Extensive expert testimony in criminal, civil, and family courts litigation in county, state, and federal courts throughout New York State.

Staff privileges at numerous medical centers, on faculty at Upstate Medical University in the Department of Psychiatry, and been a consultant with the United Nations International Police Task Force in Bosnia. Most recent presentations were for the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers program, to Supreme Court Judges, and to various bar associations on a Clinical View of Criminal Defense and Civil Commitment of Sex Abuse Cases. Serves on several boards of directors and is a professional leader and consultant on forensic and ethical issues. Member of the American Psychological Association College of Professional Psychology, is a clinical member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, and has conducted many Mental Hygiene Law Article 9 and Article 10 Psychological/Risk Assessment evaluations for both the New York State Mental Hygiene Legal Service and the New York State Office of the Attorney General.
