What is a National Register Credentialed Psychologist?
Not all psychologists are credentialed. In fact, the distinction requires a strict review of education, thousands of hours of supervised experience, and an exemplary record of professional practice. The psychologists you find in the FindaPsychologist.org database are credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Psychologists and have been verified to meet the following standards, including:
- An active and unrestricted license
- No pending or current disciplinary action in their state/ jurisdiction
- Doctoral degree from an accredited doctoral program
- At least 3,000 hours of approved supervised experience in psychology
Founded in 1974, the National Register is the largest credentialing organization for psychologists in the United States. Feel free to contact us if you have difficulty finding a psychologist through our database or have any questions. Expanded Profiles may include some information that is self-reported by the psychologist and not verified by the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
How to Write for us:
We invite all National Register of Health Service Psychologists members, postdoctoral trainees, and doctoral students to submit an article or blog for review. If you are a psychologist who is interested in the HSP credential, please visit www.nationalregister.org to apply.
