With a biological tendency to want more or achieve more, humans can often feel dissatisfied. This article includes an interview with author Robert Wright, who describes the role of mindfulness meditation in overcoming dissatisfaction. 

The practice of meditation can help put distance between one's thoughts and feelings. This distance can then reduce that sense of dissatisfaction. He explored this concept in his book, Why Buddhism is True: The Science and Philosophy of Meditation and Enlightenment.
