Jeffrey L. Binder, PhD
I have been engaged in psychotherapy with individuals and couples for over 40 years. During that time as a researcher, teacher, scholar, and practitioner, I have progressively increased my understanding of how psychotherapy can enhance a person's or couple's quality of life. As a psychotherapist, I draw upon my extensive professional and personal experiences, as well as the findings from a decade of psychotherapy research, to tailor my approach to the individual needs of each person or couple. Like many experienced clinicians, my approach to psychotherapy cannot be labeled but, rather, draws upon a variety of ways of understanding persons and their problems and of applying that understanding toward developing a productive working collaboration with my patients. Each individual has a unique personal story and our ultimate therapeutic goal, working together in a relationship characterized by mutual trust and respect, is to redirect that story in a more productive and satisfying direction.
