Lois Harbin Pope, PhD
BACKGROUND AND TRAINING: Dr. Pope is the founder and Clinical Director of Alabama Psychological Services Center where she has her practice in clinical and consulting psychology. She is a member of the National Register of Health Care Providers in Psychology. Dr. Pope earned a Doctorate Degree in both Clinical and Social Psychology from Vanderbilt University. She completed her Doctoral Internship at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center. Her clinical training and experience focused particularly on the various disorders of childhood and adolescence. Her research was focused on understanding how personality and situational factors affect children, adolescents, and adults and contribute to the development of mental disorders. SERVICES: Dr. Pope has more than 20 years of experience as a psychologist working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of capacities. She specializes in psychological assessment of children, adolescents, and adults. She provides psychological testing to assist in the diagnosis and treatment learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, disruptive behavior problems, and mood and personality dysfunction. Through the evaluation process, Dr. Pope helps to diagnose and develop treatment plans for a wide range of psychological problems in a variety of settings. Typical referral sources include other therapists, physicians, hospitals, insurance companies, businesses, churches, local and state agencies, community social service agencies, and schools.
