Research into the side effects of multiple head traumas is gaining momentum among former athletes. One brain condition that may be triggered by head trauma is chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). With several former NFL players being diagnosed with CTE after their deaths, other athletes are pledging to donate their brains to continued research.
